@joebos617 @MeritLaw You can't be a good apple if you're hanging from a rotten tree.
@joebos617 @MeritLaw FYI the National Association of Police Organizations

napo.org

info@napo.org
@NAPOpolice

has endorsed the WH criminal #MafiaDon for 2020

thecrimereport.org/2019/09/10/pol…

[BTW the crime rate has been going down for decades, Mr. Sam Cabral. Still bumped up a bit w/trump]
@joebos617 @MeritLaw @NAPOpolice 🔼 story was published just a month ago.

They're gonna have to revoke that endorsement unless they want to be known as the police association that endorsed a criminal for president.

Anyone want to take odds how long they'll keep that endorsement under current circumstances?
@joebos617 @MeritLaw @NAPOpolice Documentation on violent crime 🔽🔽 since early '90s, tail end of the crack epidemic.

Just as supporters give credit to trump for economic growth that started in 2009 under Obama, NAPO gives trump credit for continuing crime reduction begun under Clinton

statista.com/statistics/191…
@joebos617 @MeritLaw @NAPOpolice Actually that crime rate BUMPED UP a bit after trump took office [likely due to all the hate crimes committed by trump supporters]. It hasn't yet even returned to the level it was in

2014 [361.6]
2018 [368.9]

Under Obama the rate dropped 45.13 pts
2009 [431.9]
2016 [386.6] ▶️
@joebos617 @MeritLaw @NAPOpolice hmmm. Did @NatPoliceAssoc ever tout the drop in crime under Obama?

No. They claimed Obama was waging a war on police.
@joebos617 @MeritLaw @NAPOpolice @NatPoliceAssoc Obama's ACTUAL sentiments toward police:

obamawhitehouse.archives.gov/blog/2016/07/1…

Clip. The whole thing is very warm & positive.

The problem as I see it, is police & their unions are often like trump: it seems that police are not to be criticized. At all. Otherwise they think you hate them.
@joebos617 @MeritLaw @NAPOpolice @NatPoliceAssoc I do actually hate TRUMP. For good reason. He's a flipping thug who's violated his oath of office 💯x &more, broken the law, & put our national security at risk.

Altho I criticize police when they deserve it, bottom line, I do support them. I'd support them more if they listened
@joebos617 @MeritLaw @NAPOpolice @NatPoliceAssoc Indeed, I am proud of the few yrs I spent as a participant in PACTAC--a citizens law enforcement group in Rochester, NY. And I learned a hell of a lot from the Citizens Police Academy I attended.

I spent quite a bit of time w/officers who walked the beat in my neighborhood.▶️
@joebos617 @MeritLaw @NAPOpolice @NatPoliceAssoc As did a whole lot of my neighbors.

This blurry video [sorry, it was night & my camera...well] of a protest does not protest the police. Rather, it protests the violence, particularly homicides, in certain neighborhoods around the city. Police joined us.

@joebos617 @MeritLaw @NAPOpolice @NatPoliceAssoc In short, those of us who criticize police don't hate them. We want them to DO BETTER.

And a PD that can't listen to criticism from citizens is a PD that's behaving badly.
@joebos617 @MeritLaw @NAPOpolice @NatPoliceAssoc Sorry for this long rant, but there's one more thing. Yes, police put their lives on the line for us every day. But being a US cop is not the most dangerous job in the world. Indeed, along w/the overall crime rate, the rate of line of duty deaths has plummeted as well.
@joebos617 @MeritLaw @NAPOpolice @NatPoliceAssoc Oh I see I have more as I review my Notes on Facebook.

A clarification of police line of duty death statistics

facebook.com/notes/georgia-…
@joebos617 @MeritLaw @NAPOpolice @NatPoliceAssoc The hashtag #PoliceBrutality

gives a pretty good idea of what POC have to deal with in their daily lives as they interact w/the police. None of these make national news. They are all part of a daily drip drip drip of experience w/racist cops that occasionally turn into floods
