It is nice to see Syria trend again, a spectacle of thousands of people pretending to have an understanding of the situation while simultaneously not mentioning the Assad regime's decade of impunity/genocide nor being able to identify the different groups within "the Kurds".
Labeling SDF/PKK as "the Kurds" is like referring to ISIS/Alqaeda as "the Arabs", or Hamas as "the Palestinians."

It plays into a war on terror trope that militant groups are rep of national or ethnic identities, therefore, targeting civilians & collective punishment becomes ok.
Turkey targeting SDF/PKK in Syria is a legitimate action in the context of war, and vice versa, however, we live in a world where men with guns get to define targets and allies under sweeping definitions such as "the Kurds", "terrorists", etc which makes atrocities more likely.
When it comes to Syria the Assad regime and its allies have proven that gaslighting, bikeshedding, and if you repeat a lie long enough it becomes true, are sufficient countermeasures against popular insurgencies and more importantly when carrying out a genocide in plain sight.
One of the biggest losses for Kurdish factions betrayed by the U.S. will be felt by the lack of state-backed propaganda protecting them from being outright demonized/prepped for slaughter by Turkey. Then again that propaganda only worked on performatively concerned westerners.
We may sound cold or very blunt, we are, altogether our point isn't to chastise others for their rightfully legitimate concern for the safety of Kurdish populations but rather to encourage you to look at the rest of Syria and have that same energy for ALL CIVILIANS under threat.
It is a very small country... surely your limited attention spans and empathy can be extended towards those your media hasn't blasted you with 24/7.
