I often get asked if I would have been successful had I come to mindfulness and non-attachment earlier in my career. Many of my friends think their need to win at all costs and constant worry over whether they are doing enough is their edge (and I used to feel the same way).
It is impossible to know the answer, but I strongly feel now that I would have been MORE financially successful had I found peace earlier.
My problem was that I was always obsessed with comparing myself to others and feeling that I wasn’t being successful enough. This drove me to want to start new businesses, do new things, feel the grass was greener somewhere else, etc.
Which ultimately lead to a lot of giving up / selling before realizing the full potential of whatever I was working on.
Things take time. Jeff Bezos has been working at Amazon for 25 years. Here is a graph of their stock price. If Bezos had exited after 20 years, he would have left 80% of the value unrealized. 
I believe that being more at peace in the present would have given me greater patience and ability to be more rational in decisions (instead of *needing* to get out or make drastic changes because of my stress).

Of course, now I’ve realized that being more successful on the outside wouldn’t really have made me any happier or better off anyways :)
