I’m not in an affected area but I was working through scenarios on what I would do this week since this is only a matter of time as a disabled medical baseline customer in San Francisco. Some thoughts 👇

1) there is 1 community resource center per county that is open only during the day with capacity to serve 100 people based on what I read.

How in the world would that be adequate in San Francisco? If I went there to recharge some equipment imagine the wait time!
2) I live in a multistory building and while power outages are not uncommon, an outage of 2-5 days would trap me in my home since the elevators will be out. If I had to evacuate I would have to leave my power chair which is several hundred pounds.
3) When/if my back up battery runs out of power, I imagine I would have to ask friends to bring me additional batteries and since our van cannot exit our garage (and I can’t bring my chair down to connect to the car battery for charging).
4) I may have enough power for a short outage but in not for an extended number of days. Equipment I need to run per day:

- power wheelchair (16 hrs)
- BiPap (22-24 hrs)
- hospital bed (8 hrs)
- low air loss mattress to prevent bedsores (8 hrs)
- oxygen concentrator (8 hrs)
It’s super scary & I’m not alone in this. Think of the all the socially isolated people & underserved communities who don’t have access to latest information or are reluctant or unable to request help.
I know I am responsible for my safety but it would REALLY help there was a free concierge service that would come to my home, evaluate my options, calculate my power needs, & help me order & install everything safely + free or discounted equipment for @PGE4Me baseline customers
It would be especially awesome if this community-based service was provided by disabled people for disabled people, funded by @PGE4Me.

Disabled people are already sharing a lot of info & mutual aid right now.

This isn’t out of the realm of possibility, right?!? 🤷🏻‍♀️
Goddamnit! The video I quote tweeted from @PGE4Me is not captioned there were a few lines of text. ARGH. 🤦🏻‍♀️
