THREAD: Division has been the main word of 2019. It’s everywhere we look.

The UK is divided with the EU, England is divided with Scotland, and both countries are divided internally.

Whilst everyone is fighting, the rich and the elite are getting richer. This is what they want.
The 2014 referendum was divisive. The Brexit referendum was divisive. The UK Union was already fragile but has now been shattered beyond any hope of repair. We cannot allow #IndyRef2 to be divisive.
It is clear to many that Scotland and England need to take separate paths in order to best heal their internal divisions. It’s important that we’re united in becoming independent of each other.
The UK political system is completely broken and has been imbalanced and unequal from the beginning. That is unlikely to ever change so if independence isn’t the way to solve it, what is?
When it comes to a #IndyRef2 , we cannot afford for it to be as divisive as it was in 2014, or worse. Whether the result turns out to be Yes or No, we need to remember that the majority will need to live with the minority afterwards and we’re going to need to be able to get on.
Whether that’s as a newly independent Scotland, or a Scotland still within the union, we cannot afford to be so divided that we turn into what has happened to England after the Brexit vote.
If that happens, it will be almost impossible for people to live together in the aftermath of both a yes or no result.
We need to find some common ground with no voters if we hope to be able to change their minds. And vice versa. But attacking each other is not going to achieve anything, it will only invoke the divisions we should be seeking to avoid.
Scotland is better together - on our own.

England is better together - on their own.

Independence is normal and both countries need to start working together to set each other free.
