A good foreign policy of any country should be about pursuing and securing its interests first, in any situation, before attempting to resolve the problems of others. First your interests, then your allies, then everyone else. @AQpk
@AQpk You need to stand with your allies if they stand with you, and especially when your allies have a consistent record of supporting you in tough situations. Failure to be nice to your allies when they face difficulties is a sure way of creating a breach that will help your enemies.
If your interest is absent and your ally needs help and you can't deliver, then at least be nice to them, communicate and convey whey you can't step forward, and find alternative ways of helping without harming your interest. @AQpk
Remember: In the case of allies, your enemy (and theirs) are waiting for any opportunity to rupture your relationships. So, if you at all can't help your allies when they need you, at least be nice to them when you no. @AQpk
These are some basic, logical points that you would think top diplomats/politicians/pundits understand. But, if you're a journalist+public policy analyst/student like me, you will be surprised through experience how many of the policy practitioners in government miss this. @AQpk
