Should I work on the article I have due, or should I post historic French food-related terminology for sexual acts?
Thread. The people have spoken.
1. aller au beurre: <to take in the cream> to copulate
One of several terms involving beurre. There's also:
2. aller de son beurre: to orgasm more than once, of women
#foodandsex
A few French food words for penis?
3. Anchois (anchovy, implication of puniness)
4. andouille (cooked sausage)
5. Anguille (eel, i.e. the live sausage)
6. asperge (asparagus)
people ... that's just a few from the As ...
The As are fruitful for the female anatomy as well:
7. abricot de la jardinière: gardener's apricot
8. abricot fendu: split apricot
On the same theme:
9. champ: the garden
10. figue: fig
But French, like English, seems to have more words for male parts than for female parts
A few more phrases:
11. aller au persil: (to go to parsley) for a whore to seek a client
vs.
12. aller aux epinards: (to go to spinach) for a man to visit his mistress
vs.
13. aller au café: (to go to the café) to perform cunnilingus
Lots of cooking-related words for lady parts:
14. chaudron (cauldron/kettle)
15. creuset (melting pot)
16. cuisine (kitchen)
17. écuelle (kettle)
18. four (oven)
Idioms with manger (to eat)? Mais, oui!
19. manger l'anguille sans la sauce: (eat eel without sauce) to make a man pull out
20. manger de la chair crue: (eat a bit of meat) to have sex
21. manger de la viande le vendredi: same as above, on Fridays - a Catholic reference
Manger continued:
22. manger le fruit d'une femme: (eat a woman's fruit) requires no definition
23. mangeur de blanc (eater of white): a male prostitute
24. mangeuse de pommes (apple eater): a woman (i.e. Eve)
also
25. deux pommes: (two apples) breasts
Some words for female & male parts are quite close:
26. coquille (shell): penis
27. coquilles (shells): labia
28: fraise (strawberry): nipple
29. friandise (sweetmeat): penis
I don't know what to make of these:
30. éplucher des lentilles: (to peel lentils) to finger a woman with five fingers of right hand
31. éplucheuese des lentilles (peeler of lentils): a lesbian
some metaphor I'm missing?
animals, some edible, that are also names for body parts:
32: chat: (cat) pussy
33. huitre: (oyster) pussy
34. lapin: (rabbit) pussy
35. crête de coq d’Inde: cockerel’s crest, the penis
In French, unlike English, fish allusions tend masculine:
36. poisson (fish): penis
37. avaler le poisson sans sauce (swallow the fish without sauce): to have sex without the man ejaculating
38. faire le macquereau (make mackerel): to pimp
For those reading after dinner, here are a few more words for dessert:
39. sucre (sugar): semen
40. sucre d'orge (barley sugar): penis
41. sucrier (sugar): dildo
42. sucrerie (candy): sexual indulgence
Finally, because these words were taken from an 1896 French-English glossary, I learned some archaic English as well! My favorites are:
1. firkydoodle: fooling around
2. white honey: semen
