For years after a man raped me I struggled to find the words to talk about what happened to me. I can’t imagine the sheer gaslighting of being expected to call him a woman. To have to explain what ‘her’ penis did to me. 2/5
I was a well-educated woman in her 20s. I was rendered practically mute. It’s only in the past year that I’ve been able to write about what happened. There is still only one person who has heard everything that happened in my own voice. 3/5
Imagine a frightened and confused child victim, being corrected about their use of pronouns. We’ve already seen attempts to force a woman into using female pronouns for the man who physically assaulted her. 4/5

Don’t heap further despair on women who know damn well that it was a man. Don’t allow statistics to be skewed so that we can be stripped of our right to same-sex provisions as well as our right to bodily autonomy. A rapist might rape your body, this policy violates the mind. 5/5
