We need to come together as an #autistic community, everyone who allies with the #Neurodiversity movement; we need to do better than we have been, because it's been the same arguments for 11 years now, with no change, and only more divisiveness.

If Neurodiversity is truly a civil rights movement for all people who are autistic, that includes EVERYONE, no matter if you agree or disagree with their standpoints, their statements, their lives and choices.

I stand for #AllAutistics.
I stand for my younger brother, who wants a cure desperately.

I stand for my wife, who does not want a cure, and just wants to be accepted and loved by society for the wonderful and amazing woman she is.
I stand for the people I've spoken with, those that agree with neurodiversity, and those that don't. I stand for the marginalized, the disenfranchised, the bullied and harassed.
I stand for those no longer with us, the ones who, for reasons not to be said, are gone, but still in our hearts.

I stand for the future generations of autistics.

I stand for our predecessors who made our present possible.
I stand for the people I disagree with, the people that hate me, those that want me dead, those that want me to never have been born, or been born the way I am.

I stand for those that still use functioning labels, that still want a separation between Autism and Aspergers.
I stand for pro ABA and anti ABA. I stand for Pro Neurodiversity and Anti Neurodiversity.

I stand for those that agree with everything I have said, and I stand for those that think I'm insane, wrong, stupid, or whatever word they would like to use.
I stand for ALL AUTISTICS, because THAT is what #Neurodiversty should be. That is what this movement SHOULD be, or at least TRY to be.

We are fighting for rights and a better life for EVERYONE who is #ActuallyAutistic , not just those who agree with us.
As always, I love you all. The blog post I linked has more of my statement in full. I am just tired of the fighting.
@threadreaderapp, please, unroll this.
@threadreaderapp Addendum: I know some people will confuse, as they always do, being understanding/kind, with being nice
I'm not saying to forgive or excuse any1s behavior, but to simply understand where it's coming from, and to try to communicate regardless; if you can't, then at least you tried
The point I was attempting to make, is to at least try; if you can not reach a compromise, or agreement; try to agree to disagree. If you can't do that, then at least don't add to one another's suffering, there's enough of that in the world.
