students hacking the school network to create an underground crime ring where exams papers and memos were sold resulting in around 40 people getting expelled.

imma make a thread t.co/287v4HvV2t
okay so this involves 4 students who shall be referred to as person A, B, C and D from here on. It also involves 3 teachers. Teachers 1, 2 and 3. Lets hope this doesn't get too complicated
okay so rewind to grade 9. Person A, B, and C create a technology society to help students with their IT issues. These students were granted admin privileges where they could reset students passwords.
at the same time person A realised that the school network was insecure. He was quite passionate about IT and approached teacher 1 with several suggestions to improve the network
teacher 1 quickly shut him down as well as insulting him saying that he did not know anything about IT and said that he would amount to nothing.

person A took this very personally and decided to take his revenge and prove teacher 1 wrong
person A began the long and arduous process of hacking into the school network, the details of which will keep very brief.

however, at the same time person B began to experiment with the password reset capability
the previous year one of the teachers left the school however, person B realised that her account was not yet deleted. He attempted to reset the password and to his surprise...it worked
person B now had access to the emails that were sent amongst certain staff members. person B decided to create a forwarder, where all emails that were sent to the printing office would be forwarded to an anonymous gmail account. of course, this included tests, exams and memos
for the remaining part of grade 9 person B and person C would use this printer email forwarder to have access to tests and exams before they were written

all the while person A worked on entering the school network
now it is also important to note that this did not go unnoticed. teacher 2 and 3 who also worked in IT noticed that this forwarder was in place. they did not report it to the principle for fear of losing their jobs. so they simply shut it down remotely
fast forward to grade 10 and person A is still working on entering the system. to explain it simply when a school computer was switched on it would automatically be logged onto a school students account meaning there was no way he could access the admin account
person A wrote some simple code that allowed the school computer to be booted up to the admin account, and hence the network, when switched on

however, person A still required the password
person A managed to remotely screen share with teacher 1's computer, the same teacher that had insulted him. Through this he was able to uncover the encrypted admin passwords
being a grade 10 student, person 10 decided that the best course of action would be to pay for the passwords to be decrypted, which he did

by the middle of grade 10, right before june exams, he had the admin password and access to the network
enter person D. person D was who you hit up if you wanted pretty much anything illegal. it wasn't long before person D caught wind of what person A had done
together with person B and C, the four of them decide to create an organisation where they would sell the exam papers and memos, which they now had easy access too

and this went on until the june exams of grade 11
one of the students who had purchased a exam paper had decided to create his own memo and brought it with him into the exam venue. it wasn't long before teachers found this. however, what was strange was that his memo was numbered exactly the same as the exam
this sparked an entire investigation where the student claimed that he found the exam paper on a flash drive which he turned in. the flash drive was decrypted and it was found out that it belonged to...person A
person A had to reveal what had happened and from there the entire story unraveled. It had turned out that the group of four had made roughly R20 000 from selling papers and memos
person A, B, C and D where all expelled. the student who had been discovered cheating revealed all the names he knew of people who had bought papers. some 40 students were "asked to leave"
the teachers were suspicious about who had cheated and who hadn't and we were forced to rewrite the june exams complete with the teachers malice

its safe to say that that student was not very popular after that and he soon left the school too
to conclude, person A did in fact prove teacher 1 that the network was unsafe. it took him almost a year but it was done. at what cost? ehh high school was high school
