Elisa, Finland is shutting down their 3G and refarming the frequency for 4G. After 2023, 3G users will fall back to 2G network. Use of the 2G network continues as before. Some old 3G equipment (hunting cameras, etc.) would need replacement.

One of the biggest challenges for AT&T with 3G sunset is VoLTE roaming. After all these years, there are 887 MNO's in the world, 736 have LTE, 238 have VoLTE but only between 30-50 support VoLTE roaming 🙄

Swisscom in Switzerland have switched off their 2G network (#2G3GShutdown) as proportion of traffic transmitted via 2G fell steadily and was less than 0.03% by the end of 2020.

They also have 3G UMTS 900 so some older devices would stop working

Cosmote in Greece is gradually shutting down 3G network starting in September 2021 now that 5G is here. The spectrum will be re-farmed for 4G/4G+/5G. The good news is that 2G will still be around for a while.
