My Genius-lyrics-reading project continues and we have all been living with a major gap in songwriting:

There are many many many breakup songs but almost no makeup songs
All I think about is how systems and frameworks have structural holes and this is a big one, honestly why are we at the mercy of songwriters
We are now as high as two (2) makeup songs. But this ground is thin! There are 1000 songs telling your loved one to fuck right off and almost none on the other side.

Literally dozens of musicians follow me, can you all do something about this please 🎼🙏
This song's application has been accepted

Many ppl have suggested Break Up to Make Up and while it is a very good song, it is not about making up, it's an ultimatum

"Talking about how bad I treat you, now tell me I'm wrong
You say it's me who argues, I'll say it's you
We have got to get together or baby, we're through"
A little on the edge here but compelling arguments

Yes this is a makeup song, but this playlist is very slim still!

A lot of you think "ultimatums" are a way to make up, I'm a little worried about the cultural messages we're all getting
I guess this counts but it's still score-settling! Surely we have better cultural templates for makeups than score-settling and ultimatums!

Not that it matters but I personally have not had a breakup or makeup, I'm just going full English Major on this because I've been listening to a lot of music lately
This is a good one and possibly the best one so far

Not gonna lie, I have to pause at how many of you are ride-or-die for the Pina Colada Song
It's very clear that the Music Industry has been feeding us all songs about emotional carelessness and bitterness as "makeup song" and frankly I hope this grift ends now, why won't record companies let love be great
This works, via @RickLiebling. I mean it's still more of a begging desperation but the idea is fairly sound I guess
I'd do something about this myself...Once I figure out how to sing on key and have any musical ability whatsoever it's over for you all etc etc etc
Our collective brains have produced fewer than 10 plausible makeup songs and half of them are too schmaltzy and syrupy to play in public, much less send to someone you're trying to make up with. I just want to point out that this is a real problem!!!
Maybe this is like the core problem of literature, which is that happiness or order is boring to write about but chaos and distress and drama is a spur to the poetic imagination
Here is a very good one, Party of One by Brandi Carlile

This counts but it's schmaltzy and no one would ever send it to anyone to repair anything, but technically it fits the criteria yes (ht @jessicashortall
