People need to understand: when you say raising taxes on the wealthy and corporations would mean wage cuts for workers, you are agreeing to the premise that execs should continue to take home the maximum amount of profit possible while budget cuts come only from the labor end -
To use Amazon as an example again, Bezos made ~$80k in salary in 2018 but with his shares took home $40B. Amazon itself made $11B and paid no tax. Workers made about $30k pre-tax. So if we raise taxes on Bezos & Amazon, WHY does the difference come out of worker pay?/2
This isn’t a necessity, it’s a choice the wealthy make, to maintain their wealth. They have a surplus and in fact are stealing from the IRS. There is PLENTY of cash in that upper circle to pay their FAIR share with zero trickle down effect, they just don’t WANT to /3
They lie to us about what would happen if we stop them from looting and robbing their workers, and we believe it because we’re afraid of retribution. But it doesn’t make their lies any more true.
