The universe is form of energy which is source of entire living and non living things creation. They are classified into three parts: Satva, Rajas and Tamas. The food we eat also contains these energy in form of nutrients.

All three energy have their quality and effects.
Satva is form of Neutral energy which is the only energy to consume. It doesn't react with any biological adverse in body but only helps to heal and nourish. Satva elements don't affect on body harmons but help to heal and balance the body's 106 Plexus.
It is also easy to consume by heart, nerve and neurons. It help to keep body healthy and automatically balance the "Vata, Pitta, Kaffa dosh in body.
Tama is lower energy form of universe and kaal is the owner of this energy. It has lot of adverse like anger, Greediness, kama etc. When someone use "Tama" tatva in food, they automatically feel anger. Regular usage of Tamsik food increase the chaces of heart attack, cancer, etc.
"Raja" - This energy form emerge when we cook by mixing water, oil and other elements. During the cooking food lost their own natural engyme and while the addition of tastes. we add ingredients which r hard to digest. This type of food also harm health but not as bad as tama.
So whatever kind of elements we eat in form of food, our mind and auric body work in same way. If you eat Satvik, You'll feel light body, cool mind and energetic. Rajasik food makes you over confident, extra emotional, little greedy and self centered.
Shri Krishna says in Geeta that I the Satva guni Nirgun always always stay in whole species heart in form of soul and whatever you feed me, I react in same way. That's the reason we say that Body is like temple and we should feed it like we'll feed our gods.
Not only the type of food, but the direction in which we sit while eating also effects our mind and body in different ways.
