"People invested in the lie turn on you" is such a core truth about people unwilling to see the way they participate in systems that are based on their own destruction. They will fight hard to keep those systems in place rather than liberate themselves for something better.
This is about Medicare 4 All and also about media.
People will literally get on this platform and defend people who will not pay them a living wage. They will say that they can never aspire to have good healthcare, and they will embrace their own struggle. The door is open, y'all. You're always free to walk into something better.
But you have to let go of the false sense of obligation to the things holding you back. And that's the hard part for a lot of people.
I don't know who needs to hear this but you owe nothing to the people holding you back now. If they're against your growth now, if that scares them, it will always scare them and they will *always* be against your growth. They're not on your side. They're on their own side.
Today I see people tweeting angrily about how some media companies protect their own, and just a month ago, a lot of those tweeters were arguing favor of *certain* media companies exploiting writers. Sex abuse, low pay -- it's all the same corrupt anti-woman anti-worker root.
It is important to see the ways that systems enact their violence - physical, financial or emotional - against the individuals within them. None of that violence is coincidental. Not low pay, not sex abuse. It is all part of the same ethos of control and oppression.
This is why people executing systems of unfairness defend those systems, as in this statement. What is fixable is declared unfixable because those in power consider it impossible to accept less for themselves.
