Part 2 @drrevjayme Mathias’ brother works for AECOMM in another state. AECOMM is a huge vendor to AISD receiving millions in contracts from the district. Mathias by TX code must abstain from Monday’s vote due to this relation per Texas Code
Per TX Gov Code Sec 171.002.2 - a person has a ‘substantial bus interest’ if: (c) A local public official is considered to have a substantial interest under this section if a person related to the official in the first degree by consanguinity or affinity, as determined under
Chapter 573, Government Code, has a substantial interest under this section.
Mathias is separated from his brother by ZERO degrees and his brother is employed by AECOMM therefore having a ‘direct business interest’ per section b of 171.002
Then per Sec. 171.004. AFFIDAVIT AND ABSTENTION FROM VOTING REQUIRED.
The Gov Official... shall abstain from further participation in the matter if: (1) in the case of a substantial interest in a business entity the action on the matter will have a special
economic effect on the business entity that is distinguishable from the effect on the public;
AECOMM will most directly- likely more than any other business - receive a direct special economic effect from the Changes Plan
Therefore, by ATX Code, Mathias must abstain from Monday’s vote. Trustees please up hold community trust and TX Code by enforcing theses rules.
