@JoyAnnReid #Ukraine is a top military arms EXPORTING nation.
Hundreds of million$ in U.S. military aid helps Ukraine sell their weaponry to China!
#Trump continually gives military aid to Ukraine to buy U.S. weapons, including #Javelins not used in #Donbas conflict.

@JoyAnnReid Do you believe Ukraine is now fighting for its survival against an invasion of Russian soldiers with thousands of casualties?
It’s nothing like that.
#ObamaBiden denied all military aid to #Poroshenko fearing that lethal aid would provoke Moscow.
washingtonpost.com/opinions/2019/… #JoeBiden
@JoyAnnReid Any time you hear the #BidenProtectionMedia wailing that #tRump denied (delayed) U.S. military aid to fight off Russia’s proxy mercenaries (not Russian soldiers) remember #Biden’s impotence when #Poroshenko begged for military aid.

@JoyAnnReid #Biden told #Obama he wanted to take on containing the #IslamicState, curbing #immigration from Central America, & keeping Russia from devouring #Ukraine.
Ironically, Joe did none of that, but #tRump has, without starting any new futile wars.

@JoyAnnReid #Ukraine has the second-largest standing land army in Europe in terms of manpower. Today, after more than five years of war, Ukraine remains one of the world’s top weapons-exporting nations and is able to meet many of its own defense supply needs.
dailysignal.com/2019/09/26/how…
@JoyAnnReid “Ukraine is indeed a major arms manufacturing nation — but we need U.S. military help,”
“...our military in the #Donbas faces an enemy that enjoys considerable superiority in many aspects of modern warfare, starting from the use of drones, to radio-electronic jamming systems.”
@JoyAnnReid According to the Pentagon, U.S. military aid is tied to Ukraine achieving certain reform benchmarks.
“made possible by Ukraine’s continued progress on adoption of key defense institutional reforms to align Ukraine’s national security architecture with Euro-Atlantic principles”
@JoyAnnReid In 2014, Moscow annexed Ukraine’s Crimean Peninsula after a hybrid warfare invasion. Russia subsequently launched a proxy war in Ukraine’s eastern #Donbas region.
After more than five years of constant combat, Ukrainian troops remain engaged in a static, trench warfare conflict.
@JoyAnnReid A Feb. 2015 cease-fire, Minsk II, failed to stop the fighting.
Today, the war is mostly fought using indirect fire weapons like artillery, rockets, & mortars.
Snipers also engage targets across no man’s land, where the two sides are so close they can shout insults to one another.
@JoyAnnReid #Ukroboronprom, Ukraine’s national military industrial conglomerate, produces a wide gamut of weapons systems for the country’s armed forces, including armored personnel carriers, anti-aircraft systems, and fighter aircraft upgrades.
@JoyAnnReid In 2018, #Ukroboronprom supplied 2,500 “state of the art high-precision missile systems” including anti-tank missiles.
Last year, Ukraine developed a high-precision, 152 mm artillery projectile with accuracy of “several centimeters” at a distance of about 12.4 miles.
@JoyAnnReid This is the main reason #Putin is "up in arms" & trying to minimize #Ukraine's military development.
Ukraine recently announced the development of a new arsenal of intermediate-range missiles capable of striking deep into Russia from launch sites within Ukrainian territory.
@JoyAnnReid #Ukraine ranked 12th among the world’s top 25 major military arms-exporting nations from 2014 to 2018.
China is the top purchaser of Ukrainian military arms, according to SIPRI data.
The lion’s share was and is excess Soviet equipment.
@JoyAnnReid Hundreds of millions in U.S. military aid helps Ukraine sell weapons to China!
#Ukraine suspended military sales to Russia in 2014 in wake of the Kremlin’s invasion & seizure of #Crimea.
Ukraine’s boosted defense trade with #China supplanted its lost defense business with Russia.
@JoyAnnReid Ukraine sells its old weaponry & uses U.S. & E.U. "aid" to buy U.S. weaponry.
Ukraine’s weapons sales abroad do “not affect the rearmament of the Ukrainian army in any way.”
Rather, profit from arms sales helps Ukraine fund purchases of military hardware it cannot build at home.
@JoyAnnReid Since the outset of Russia’s hybrid war in 2014, Ukrainian officials solicited America for lethal weaponry — the #Javelin anti-tank missile in particular.
#Obama never approved the move, due to fears of escalating the conflict by sparking a tit-for-tat arms race with Russia.
@JoyAnnReid In Dec. 2017, #Trump approved a $41.5 million deal for sniper rifles, ammunition, & accessories to Ukraine.
Days later, the Trump administration green-lighted a #Javelin weapons package for Ukraine reportedly worth $47 million, comprising 210 anti-tank missiles & 37 launchers.
@JoyAnnReid In 2018, Ukraine took possession of the U.S. #Javelins. The anti-tank weapons have not been deployed to the #Donbas battlefield. In fact, #Kyiv guaranteed the weapons would remain in storage outside the war zone, and would not be used in the conflict under its current conditions.
@JoyAnnReid Delivery of U.S. anti-tank weaponry has not affected the overall outcome of the war in the #Donbas or given Ukraine the means to repel a full-blown Russian invasion. On the other hand, the #Javelins’ delivery did not spur a Russian military escalation, either, as some had feared.
@JoyAnnReid U.S. #Javelins already delivered by Trump in 2018 demonstrated American resolve to support Ukraine’s ongoing defensive military campaign.
“Everybody knows the Javelins are not going to be engaged in combat in #Donbas & that this was rather a symbolic, political move from D.C."
@JoyAnnReid Ukraine’s rearmament has been meticulously planned and systematic. This past year has been a pivotal one in this regard. The army of Ukraine now receives new Ukrainian weapons, which are produced serially.
@JoyAnnReid These new models of Ukrainian weapons are made by both state and private enterprises, including over a hundred defense enterprises that are part of the #Ukroboronprom state concern.
defensenews.com/outlook/2018/1…
@JoyAnnReid #Ukroboronprom has transitioned from repairing, modernizing & selling arms & military equipment of Soviet origin to the development of its own weapons systems.
Ukraine has managed to stabilize its defense industry & create the conditions for increasing exports.
@JoyAnnReid America does not need to subsidize Ukraine’s arms exporting to China, Russia, and Thailand.
Ukraine ranks 12th among the 25 largest arms exporters
They use our money to buy our arms exports to them.
unian.info/economics/1047…
@JoyAnnReid Since 2002, the U.S. has sold more than $197 billion worth of major conventional weapons & related military support to 167 countries.
In his first year in office, #tRump inked arms deals at a record pace.
cato.org/publications/p…
@JoyAnnReid The U.S. repeatedly sells weapons to nations engaged in deadly conflicts, & to those with horrendous human rights records [which also applies to U.S. atrocities done in its "foreign" wars].
On repeated occasions, American troops have fought opponents armed with American weapons.
@JoyAnnReid #Ukraine is a major #ArmsExporter who says it needs U.S. armaments.
And #NancyPelosi also provides congressional funding of #MilitaryAid, aka #ArmsSales to 142 countries; many of them accused of being major human rights violators.
thinkprogress.org/us-cuts-milita… #ProveYourInnocenceNancy
@JoyAnnReid Has #NancyPelosi ever missed a chance to fund unjustified warmongering with hundreds of billions of dollars of #SupplementalFunding for undeclared #NationalEmergency wars like #Iraq — excluding her war against building additional protective border fencing?
fpif.org/the_democrats_…
@JoyAnnReid "The decision by the Democratic leadership of both houses and the majority of Democratic senators to vote for unconditional funding for the war is also a reflection of the majority party’s spending priorities. There is no Democratic proposal for a $100 billion supplemental ...
@JoyAnnReid ... spending bill for health care. There is no Democratic proposal for a $100 billion supplemental spending bill for education. There is no Democratic proposal for a $100 billion supplemental spending bill for environmental protection."
#NancyPelosi funds warmongering #DNC
@JoyAnnReid #Obama prevented provision of any lethal or non-lethal armaments to Ukraine. Now Democrats are impeaching #tRump for a temporary hold on some of the many lethal armaments he’s been selling to them, which are not usable in its skirmishes with mercenaries.
defensenews.com/opinion/commen…
@JoyAnnReid After lengthy policy review, the WH decided to overturn the previous administration’s position on U.S. weapons sales to Ukraine, an arms exporter.
Washington would now send lethal defensive weapons systems to Kiev, ostensibly to improve Ukraine’s ability to defend itself.
@JoyAnnReid Some in Washington have advocated for the sale of missiles to damage or destroy Russian tanks in eastern Ukraine ever since Moscow intervened in its neighbor’s affairs. These weapons will have no impact on fighting beyond a front line that has been mostly static for years.
@JoyAnnReid While deterring more violence in eastern Ukraine is the stated objective, shipping advanced weapons into a conflict zone is bound to end up badly for Ukrainians — who simply want the violence to end — & for the U.S., which should not be plunging into another foreign commitment.
@JoyAnnReid It is inconceivable for #Putin to allow a large neighboring state to drift closer to Europe and act antagonistic toward Moscow. This is a strategic vulnerability for Russia, and one that he relies on as a buffer from perceived encroachment by liberal internationalists.
@JoyAnnReid Moscow, like Washington, wants to be the dominant power in the region. Weapons shipments to Kiev, in the view of the Kremlin, are a hostile act designed to jeopardize Moscow’s national security & pressure Russia. If this continues, the Kremlin will react forcefully and retaliate.
@JoyAnnReid Picking a fight with a nuclear power over Ukraine is the exact opposite of wise; remember, Ukraine is not an ally.
Russia has much more at stake in the outcome than the U.S., so the former will always be more willing to make sacrifices to achieve its desired political end state.
@JoyAnnReid When no vital interests are at stake, it is more appropriate to collaborate with Moscow in an attempt to resolve a dispute diplomatically. In strategic arms control, for instance, the U.S. & Russia have a responsibility to work together in order to promote mutual understanding.
@JoyAnnReid #Zelensky had pressed for a more robust American role in peace talks with #Putin, in part by seeking a meeting with #Trump in the White House.
That meeting has been spoiled by militarist Democrats who want to escalate the conflict with lethal armaments.
nytimes.com/2019/11/12/wor…
@JoyAnnReid Peace talks, scheduled for Dec. 9, will be the first between #Zelensky of Ukraine, the comedian who won the presidency on a pledge to end the fighting with Russian-backed separatists in eastern Ukraine, and the Russian leader, Vladimir #Putin.
nytimes.com/2019/11/15/wor…
@JoyAnnReid #Putin portrays Russia under his leadership as seeking to improve ties, but is frustrated by Washington’s “imperialist mentality.”
He criticized the alliance for expanding eastward to Russia’s borders.

#NATO #BillClinton #tRump
@JoyAnnReid #BillClinton said #Putin was trustworthy & never reneged on any deals they made.
It's been a national embarrassment that #tRump made himself world-renowned for being the exact opposite.

#evangelicals #republicans #gop
@JoyAnnReid #Putin can play #RussianPolitics with one hand while playing #tRump & the Democrats who hate him like a fiddle, with the other hand.
Propaganda from and especially, against #Putin's Russia, is generating unnecessary hatred throughout America.
@JoyAnnReid #OldJoeBlow #Biden probably claims he was beating all the neighbor kids like a drum when he was that age, long, long, lonnnng ago.
@JoyAnnReid How could #tRump have any reservations about giving someone as serious a brown-noser as #Zelensky, hundreds of millions to buy additional lethal #Javelins?
It must be "hard" to play a piano like Zelensky does in this video.
#Whistleblower #VindmanTwins
@JoyAnnReid On the other hand, #Putin exposes his soft side when he plays the piano.
Will Putin and #Zelensky ever play together and duet?
@JoyAnnReid When #tRump flees to Russia, #Vladimir can play & sing #BlueberryHill for him, & make him cry.
I found my thrill on Capitol Hill,
when I elected you.
But all of those vows you made,
were never to be.
When we're apart, you're part of me still.
You are my thrill on #CapitolHill.
