You guys it's time to talk about someone running for the NC state legislature that I am VERY EXCITED about, come gather round.

Kim Hardy is primarying a longtime, very conservative, pro-HB2 Democrat.

Yep, a pro-HB2 Democrat.

He made noise about how the minimum wage & workplace discrimination parts of the bill were such a bummer

& still voted for it, because eff those gays.

So let's talk about Kim Hardy.

She's a longtime social worker, now teaching social work at local uni Fayetteville State University.

Ms. Hardy's got firsthand experience on how gerrymandered, single-party rule in NC has gutted public resources.
We're one of the states hardest-hit by industrial decline, while also having massive wealth in urban R&D and banking centers.

The state GOP refuses to re-invest in rural areas. NC's rural poverty is a direct result of GOP rule & yellow-dog Dems who fall in line behind them.
*Note: the epicenter of the NC conservative vote isn't the countryside, it's the Charlotte exurbs. NC09's real live rural areas are actually pretty Black & Latinx.

This ain't the "white rural/Brown urban divide" that people keep trying to make happen.
Kim Hardy's got a great head on her shoulders and I would love to be repped by her in NC's state house.

So, I'd like to ask anyone who's able to send a few bucks her way to do so this week.

If you not, can you RT to get an HB2 supporter out of office?

This is also a great time for a long-overdue update on a call for donations I put out a few months ago for our local Cape Fear Indivisible group during the NC09 special election.

Twitter, y'all raised used $4K and it helped a LOT.
As you probably know, NC09 went to Dan Bishop anyway thnx largely to Charlotte exurbs.

BUT, we were also running Fayetteville city council elections at the same time- those went VERY well. Fayetteville's got an unusually progressive city council now thanks in large part to you.
Your support meant we were able to run more canvasses. It also gave us the breathing room to set up child care during canvassing. This has been INCREDIBLY popular. We got way more doors knocked. Childcare for canvassers will be a key part of our moves going forward.
The vast majority of the money raised by that fundraising came from small and very small donations. And it had a very big effect.

All this is to say-- small donations go a LONG way for progressive organizing in places like Fayetteville NC that usually get left behind.
Please help us primary out a pro-HB2 lawmaker! You can donate here, small donations help us a LOT, and please signal boost if you're able.
