Our policy differences aside, @finkd Mark Zuckerberg is 100% correct in his position on political ads. First off it puts his platform in 100% compliance with Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, and enjoy the protections from liabilty…
No one asks any TV Network or Radio network to fact check paid for ads, political or otherwise. Why should FaceBook be expected to. What Google/Youtube and Twitter are doing is controlling content and that directly violates Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act.
Controlling content means you are taking responsibility of it thus losing the Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act protections. If all political ads were removed from all platforms that weren't 100% factual, there would be not ads. Twitter is trying to create a loophole.
Banning all political ads on Twitter isn't a loophole to remain in compliance with the Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act. Banning all ads would be fine, however being selective to political ads violates Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act.
The liberal left will try their cancel culture tactics to manipulate FaceBook hopefully Zuckerberg stands fast. It's no skin off my back either way, I don't use the platform, however the point is important.
