The Magna Carta essentially established the Plantagenet English monarchy as formal puppets of the City of London Corporation -- the sureties of which were primarily descendants of Charlemagne, who was himself the descendant of the [P]ippinids.
The Pippinids were the Mayors of the Palace of the Frankish Merovingian Dynasty -- also known as the "Power behind the throne."

The Pippins were aristocratic prior, but their lineage gets hazy. Almost surely a connection to Julii, Fabii, or Flavii of Rome.
Well at least one genealogist, Christian Settipani, thinks the Pippinids by way of Arnoul, Bishop of Metz, descended from Flavius Afranius Syagrius.

This would make the Carolingians part of the Flavii gens,
The Flavian gens was the family of the Emperors Constantine of the Byzantine Empire (East Roman). The name fell into disuse later. I think the Flavians have reinvented themselves, yet always kept a finger on the power levers.
The most important of the Seven Hills of Rome is the [P]alatine Hill. This is said to be the nucleus of Rome, and where Romulus and Remus (founders of Rome) were found by Lupa. The main building on the hill is the Flavian Palace.
Interestingly, the Papacy held little true power beyond religiosity until Pope Leo III sold the Papacy to Charlemagne. Shortly thereafter, the Holy Roman Empire was born. The Flavians were thus reborn again.
Charlemagne's line merged with the Etichonids, which led to the establishment of the Habsburgs to rule the Holy Roman Empire. I haven't proven it, but I'm also willing to bet the Italian Nobility/Papal Nobility was thus descended from Charlemagne and the Flavians.
And like I said yesterday in another thread, the double-headed eagle of the Holy Roman Empire is likely Charlemagne telling you he descends ultimately from Sumeria.
