30 years ago, a loser walked into an University in Montréal, separated genders and gunned down 14 women. My aunt survived because the killer thought she was dead. I still remember to this day the gunpowder smell when she made it back home 1/5 #MontrealMassacre
She finished her studies and became an engineer, worked on a water purification plant, worked on building bridges & plants across the province and worked on building the biggest hospital in Montréal. 2/5
She, along with her girlfriend, adopted two girls; one who found her passion in arts & cheerleading, the other studying to become a doctor. My aunt doesn't really talk about this day. My guess is she doesn't want the action of a psychopath to define who she is 3/5

If that's not the biggest fuck you to this guy, I don't know what is. She never flinched, she kept going head first. Sylvie, as an 8 year old that day, to this day, I remain in awe of your strength. That day doesn't define you. It just confirmed how bad ass you always were. 5/5
