Assam protests are a case study of govt's failure into getting people on board for the #CABBill.

Govt should have been more 'available' correct information about the bill.

A lot of opposition for the bill is coming from a place of misunderstanding and lack of information.
What people of Assam are demanding is genuinely correct. They don't want influx of refugees comimg from Bangladesh border (which is open on many parts of it)

That's why they supporter NRC, but back then our liberals opposed them.
Now, the same liberals are using these protests as shoulder to shoot holes into #CAB.

Govt has made provisions to keep NE states out of it, but there are two problems -

1. It's not communicated properly
2. Govt has failed to ensure its implementation
Also, on a side note, Badruddin Ajmal's AIUDF is now a main opposition party in the state

His party panders to illegal immigrants who have come from Bangladesh in large chunks

There is a high chance that he has mixed his political protestors with genuine protestors to intensify
Now, here is the trick part.

Genuine protestors of Assam are opposing CAB and support NRC because they want to keep ALL migrants out of Assam

Political protestors don't want CAB & NRC because they oppose religiously persecuted minorities and romanticize economic migration
This is what puts our liberals in a very awkward position.

They are on the same side as many of the 'political protestors' but not on the side of 'genuine Assamese protestors'

They romanticize idea of giving shelter to economic migrants but not to religiously persecuted ones
Govt needs to reach out to genuine Assamese protestors with a solid solution while keeping a check on these political protestors making situation worse with their double edged sword

Carrot and the stick model will work best here and I hope govt sees it, before it's too late.
