[Thread] Plantations are Slave Labor Camps. /fin

Casey Chalk of @FDRLST bemoans <checks article> that people can't get married at plantations anymore?

Well, this is a take.

Morgan Freeman: It was a terrible, horrible take.…
Which brings me to a thought exercise I am more and more devoted to:

What if we called plantations "slave labor camps?"…
It's time to take this terminology seriously and stand firm against both neo-Confederate apologetics and potential exceptionalism about the Holocaust.
So...THIS guy makes the following "arguments:"

"Plantations Are Beautiful and No Longer Used for Slavery"

"Social Justice Warriors Aren’t the History Police"

"This Generation Isn’t Morally Superior to Others"
Needless to say, this is a piece of nonsense slavery apologetics with a side of whitewashing history paired with some Christian fundamentalism all washed down with a glass of moral relativism.

Here are some of the real awful subtakes in this massively bad take:
Not really. I mean, some of the fields at Auschwitz II may be aesthetically pleasing in springtime, get my point.
This is called whitewashing and minimizing history.
Indeed. And which of those sites are wedding venues and as mythologized as plantations are?
This is just...<chef's kiss>

Relativizing...Catholic suffering and hyperbole.
This word "damnatio memoriae"

I do not think it means what you think it means.

Gotta get the "America is a Christian country" plug in here because...imagined grievance? War on Christmas?
Is he...making an ethnic-cleansing nod here?
