Coming into this game, I thought our toughest game was behind us. I really thought that Bama was the best team LSU would face this year.

I was totally wrong about that.

Clemson punched us in the mouth, and they are the only team to do that this year. Clemson was incredible.

Good thread. Just about all of it comprises entailments of one central principle of Baptist polity:

Baptists are congregational; each congregation is autonomous.

If you can grasp this, the rest of the structure makes sense.
I teach the doctrine and SBC portion of our new members class at our church. And one of the things I try to emphasize is that Baptist churches are autonomous. The SBC exercises zero control over our congregation. None.

An SBC church could call a flamingo to be its pastor, and there would be absolutely nothing that the SBC could do to counteract that. The SBC has no authority or power to do anything about who a congregation calls as pastor. None.
