A few years ago Safi attended a research meeting sponsored by a patient foundation group. One of the first people he met after I in hotel lobby started asking him detailed questions about the science behind the cancer drug they were working on at the time
(he was running a biotech co). After they were done speaking, he asked the other person "What university are you from?"
"I'm not with any university," he said. "I'm a patient. I was diagnosed seven years ago and given 6 months to live.
I was one of the first to get Gleevec. Since then, every day has been a gift. Every sunrise has been more glorious than the one before."
This story is an example of why I love the industry I’m in.

There are 3 topics I am actively thinking about a lot these days:
Topic #1: Persuasion
I am interested in persuasion because it's probably the most powerful skill you could have in the world.
Topic #2: Psychology
I first got interested in psychology over ten years ago when I dropped out of medical school and started as a sales rep at Mazor Robotics, a medtech company.
My late mentor Chris Sells introduced me to it—and since then, I have learned a lot about the importance of observing how people make decisions, what actions they take, and why they did it.
9/11 still gets me choked up. Im even more emotional looking at the photo below.
This country is by far from perfect, but there's a reason why the majority of people who leave their country to pursue their dreams say "Im going to America." #September11 1/5
The people below were immigrants in a naturalization ceremony at the White House.
At the ceremony, President @realDonaldTrump said “Today, America rejoices as we welcome 5 absolutely incredible new members into our great American family." 2/5
These people didn't come to America just because of the money, the real estate, the healthcare, the education, etc. There are plenty of countries that are better in each of those categories.
They came here because of the idea of what it means to be an American. 3/5
