If we’re all in on the fight for universal basic income and human-centered capitalism, we can’t afford to hinge it all on one election. @AndrewYang is a beacon of hope but if he wins, it’s just the beginning. We must become resilient and future-focused. #YangGang
In the next few weeks, the truth about this race’s wild trajectory will be revealed. Watch the stubbornness of the candidates biting at the frontrunners’ heels. They all know it: the polls might as well be astrology. Anyone can win.
That said, the odds are against us, even as we grow. Other candidates have billions of dollars and vast political networks cultivated over years or decades. We are the underdogs by far.

But win or lose, I believe that UBI is our political destiny, if we make it so.
We must psychologically prepare for all outcomes, so as to turn each of them to our advantage. Internalizing the probability of Yang’s loss is healthy; once accepted, the fear of it no longer controls you, and you gain clarity and power to help him win. This is the tao.
We must become adaptable so as to be indestructible. Think of Yang’s critics gloating if he loses — they’ll mock his ideas and try to bury them. We cannot allow that to happen.

Nor can we doom him to a hollow victory. If he wins, he’ll need a mass movement of allies.
My read of the landscape is that it is very likely Bernie wins the nomination and loses the general. If that happens, how do we respond? Indeed, how do we respond if Bernie wins the whole thing? We must reckon with it now; we must decide who we are and what our next play must be.
I’m proceeding under the assumption that every ounce of energy we can devote to @AndrewYang’s campaign is worth of ton in return, regardless of electoral outcome. To run the race at all is an act of defiance that will inspire a generation.
So even though I have reckoned with the probabilities of an electoral loss, don’t misunderstand me: I’m in this thing to win, too. But I’m looking at the fight for UBI as the revolution of reason, the revenge of philosophy and humanism in America — an epic, generational battle.
I’m totally disinterested in joining the Berner coalition because their politics are oddly antiquated and their ideology is blind. I don’t care that their intentions are good. Republicans have good intentions, too. So what? I’m not joining the GOP as a consolation prize, either.
This doesn’t rule out casting a vote for the Democratic nominee on pragmatic grounds. But it does preclude the possibility of canvassing for them, wearing their merch, or showing an ounce of enthusiasm for any candidate who fails to care about the issues that matter most.
No, this isn’t just about the Presidency. It’s about a vision. It’s about answering this fundamental question: what is America, and what does it mean to be American? Yang has by far the most compelling answers to those questions. UBI isn’t just money, after all; it’s belonging.
So come hell or high water, win or lose, sweeping electoral mandate or bitter struggle, I’m in it until we #SecureTheBag.

For our kids. For America. For humanity.

#YangGangForever.
