You can see racially targetted wedge ops all around. The evil forces amplified both sides of "take a knee", both sides of "black lives/blue lives matter", their bots and trolls will attack me with "sit down, shut up" crap for being a white man.
There is an entire "feminsta" side of twitter (and all social media) devoted to playing the opposite side of the horseshoe against "bernie bros" and "trumpers." Many of those accounts are probably some dude in Moscow switching between socks and stirring trouble.
This wedge op smear is one angle of attack against Hillary and Biden and all "centrist" or "establishment" candidates. The theory is that they were there in the 1990s when terrible mass incarceration theories passed into law. So ... WHO CAUSED MASS INCARCERTATION?

In 1992 Bill Barr authored this. George HW Bush was POTUS. Dems were on their way to crushing defeat (bringing Newt Gingrich to power) in part on massive argument about Dems being "soft on crime." It's true that Dems lost the debate and did not do enough.
