/ I no longer call myself a “liberal”, but rather I only say I’m a progressive and more specifically, I am a democratic socialist. I am also a leftist, and this has a specific meaning we all need to understand.
I hope I don’t lose any of my “liberal” friends over this, but...
/ if this makes some people upset or uncomfortable, so be it. I just hope anyone who is upset will take the time to read all of what I say and really try to understand the details. I am not being a reactionary. This is well thought out. I have been researching, reading, learning
/ & listening to extensive facts that have brought me to this realization. When you break down the details of political & social views of “liberals”, they ultimately are boot-lickers in love with the status quo of military imperialistic violence & also capitalistic exploitation,
/ abuse, & oppression for the sake of maximizing corporate profits / GREED of the mega-rich. They tend to have a worldview rooted in a core foundation of “bootstraps” hyper-individualism, which is very right-wing and is about classism and also racism.
/ The white supremacy / racism in this worldview is simply undeniable. We have never had racial equity / racial justice. We keep hurting & killing people of color in order to make more profits / wealth for super-rich white corporate execs and their lobbyists.
/ Racism and classism are intertwined. They go together with capitalism and also military imperialism.

The patriarchy and toxic masculinity of this worldview is also undeniable. This is what the extreme military violence and also police violence is all about.
/ I mention the police because “liberals” are also frequently boot-lickers of the police. They may talk about police racism & violence, but they often tend to simultaneously say that “police are brave heroes who keep us safe.”
/ They tend to revere & kiss the asses of cops, the military, and wealthy corporate execs / bosses / supervisors, NO MATTER WHAT THESE PEOPLE & their institutions are actually doing.
/ “Liberals” tend to love strict social hierarchy. This unwavering, blind loyalty to authority figures is a huge problem. They are enabling constant injustice, abuse, oppression, exploitation, violence, trauma, and unnecessary & preventable pain, suffering, misery, & despair.
/ The ideology’s rooted in supporting the status quo of rewarding GREED, selfishness, & cruelty. Our lives shouldn’t be defined by capitalism & how much we work to produce a profit. Our existence shouldn’t be about making money. This is not how we should define life’s purpose.
/ We’re worthy & valuable merely for having been born and existing. Period. Capitalism teaches us the opposite. We are seen as worthless unless we “get to work”. We‘re treated as if we are nothing unless we work our asses off, making ourselves miserable & sick, even killing us.
/ And this puts immense strain on our mental health and relationships with other people, in addition to our physical health. Our lives are not defined by our jobs / “work” / labor. We shouldn’t have to feel this constant pressure to be “productive”.
/ We should be able to enjoy our lives and to appreciate the beauty and wonder of nature, art, pleasure, recreation, physical activity, self-expression, creativity, empathy, compassion, love, and TRUE HUMAN CONNECTION.
/ Authoritarianism, social hierarchies, and strict, rigid demands for “work” & blind loyalty to authority figures are incredibly harmful.

So, to recap, I will never again call myself a “liberal”.
