Here's my latest* update to my vetted collection of Twitter Disability and Chronic Illness hashtags. Please share it!

Thank you :-) Graffiti background. Foreground in black letters on a white background to the left reads “Twitter Disability and Chronic Illness Hashtags”<br />
This collection is current as of 01.30.20, previous Twitter update 09.11.19.

There's a PDF version coming up this weekend, to be posted to my Kofi profile. I'll add the link toward the end when it goes up, after the questions, where you can also sign up for email updates.
This version has added

This next section lists hashtags specific to illness /diagnosis /disability (or lack thereof.)

It differs from the upcoming *Community section because mostly people are focused on one specific condition.
Many of the crowdfunding/funding hashtags apply to specific situations. Please take care to make sure you are using them correctly.
Good policy when you're not in need? Browse those hashtags and boost a person at random who isn't getting much traction.
*Community Hashtags

This group of hashtags is for topical discussions, community, activities and/or awareness. Most are inclusive of more than one chronic illness, disability or diagnosis.
*Community/Awareness A - L

#AbledAlliesSay - created by @dSavannahCreate

#AbledsAreWeird - created by @Imani_Barbarin - now with t-shirts!

Okay, next up, Honorable Mentions and FAQs, including how to add to this list.

Please keep in mind that

- This is a volunteer project I do for free,
- It's not meant to be comprehensive - there are many hashtags purposely not included
- I welcome your suggestions.
Honorable Mentions

These are hashtags I considered adding which didn’t quite make it due to:

low activity,
seasonal/event related,
not enough people updating,
too much non-patient content,
or otherwise not quite right .

They may be added permanently in future updates.
@mattbc ***FAQS

If this is your first time reading this list, you've probably noticed that your favorite hashtag may not be included.

I start with a cluster of conditions, say autoimmune diseases, and cover the top tags that fit. Then next round, I do a deeper dive.
So you may see Blood Cancer and CLL as hashtags, but not see Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia until the next update- or not at all if there's mostly spam or doctors talking in the thread, for example.

Anyway... more FAQs below, feel free to reply where ever or DM with other ?s.
*And Just What The Hell This Is?

I'm maintaining a list of ways we #spoonies and #disabled people congregate on Twitter to support each other, find or exchange information and form community.

And yes, amusing myself in the process.
It's now one of the many projects of #EverywhereAccessible, (@EveryAccess) founded in 2019.

We have 20 projects we're launching in 2020 with the intention of seeing the world become accessible.

We're 20% of the world. We should be able to access all of it, like anyone else.
**But WHY?

Every time I ask myself the main reason? It changes.

Today, it's about giving back to the community that gives to me. To have something tangible to point at to remind me that just because i don't make the money I used to, doesn't mean I'm useless.
Community is important. If we can find each other, we can get so much more of what we need from there.
**How You Can Help

Well first, send cash please? :-)

Cash App

Gradually I’m getting closer to full time remote work, now having 7 chronic illnesses not including the chronic cancer.
As I've said, this is a labor of love, I do for free. Any contribution gets you a PDF copy and lifetime updates.

This become one of the ways I raise extra income to close the gap between what I earn from selling ebooks, classes and writing.

Even a dollar here and there helps!
*When and how is it updated?

Quarterly, approximately.

Over the months I collect active patient-focused hashtags in a file. Then they are vetted tags for recent activity, as well as updates frequent and varied enough to foster community.
Then I look for things like people posting every few days & make sure those posts aren’t just spam.

You may have noticed that I capitalize each word in the hashtag. This makes it more readable and accessible, esp for people using screen readers.
After about a day of updates, I publish to PDF.

*Where/how can you add to this list or correct/update a listing?

There are three ways.
You can:

1- Respond to the latest Twitter thread version on Twitter.

2- Contact me via Twitter Direct Message on @Tinu if we're mutuals, and @DisHashtags if we’re not.
3 - Add #Distags to a tweet that uses your hashtag when you create a new one or want to add/update/correct information, and follow #DisHashtags to see changes between quarterly updates and to this document.
I started with the mega-resource Symplur Hashtags (@healthhashtags), so shout out to them and the amazing tool they built. Great account to follow!

Most comprehensive resource for medical related hashtags on the web, period. If you have a new hashtag, add it there too!
Are You Going To Do More Than Twitter?

Eventually I'll include other platforms.

I'm getting close to believing I'm covering most active hashtags. Then I want to add ways to support disabled art & entrepreneurs. Facebook or IG are next after that.

I have a Tiny Letter you can join.

tinyletter.com/Tinu. Or of course, you can subscribe to my ko-fi- ko-fi.com/TinuWrites - and get PDF updates for life!

Thank you for supporting this project!
