Another season to stay safe
Harmattan, just like the rainy season, is another season in Nigeria which occurs between the period of November to March. It is characterised by dry, dusty and cold winds.
This season poses another hazard as it affects all exposed parts of the human body, like the skin, eyes, nose, mouth and the respiratory tract.
Here are some tips to help you cope with this season: 1. To avoid cracked lips use lip gloss, lip balm or vaseline;
you can prevent dry skin and palms by using a moisturiser. 2. Avoid indiscriminate bush burning as fire burns better in the absence of moisture. 3. Cover your nose and mouth with a mask or towel when it is dusty to avoid catarrh and cough.
