@SenSanders Warren is not wrong about a plan to get out before getting in, but I swear that Warren's blanket foreign policy plan is to wag her finger at bad agents. She's got detailed plans about everything, why not about FP?
@SenSanders In France, a presidential system where the "government" (=cabinet of ministers) is picked by parliamentarian elex, there's the President, who's in charge of a lot of domestic issues+the vast majority of foreign policy, + the PM, head of gov, steeped in the minutiae of domestic.
@SenSanders This is a bit of a simplistic description, you get the idea.
What I mean to say is that Warren would make a good prime minister. Shame that position doesn't exist here.
@SenSanders Another debate without talking about immigration.
Seeing so many people blame evil greedy VC and whilst I get the temptation (I could only stand to live in SF for 3 years), this explanation👇 makes far more sense to me in light of the fact that SVB held a f-tonne of treasuries (bonds are a market I used to cover).
It’s a very good point @ritholtz makes that we’ve been in inflation land for a year, and that the Fed seems panicky (a capital sin for central bankers, whose job is 90% to appear calm).
Whether or not you're into sailing, you really must follow along the "Everest of the Seas:" 3 months solo around the world, from France, down the coast of Africa, around Antarctica, then back toward the North Atlantic, without stopovers or assistance: vendeeglobe.org/en
33 skippers left on November 8 for the toughest of regattas. They crossed the Equator and they (minus 1, who had to abandon) were just making their way past the Cape of Good Hope. It's stunning, intense, emotional, and filled with learning opportunities for adults and kids.
Bad news is that just today, skipper @KevinEscoffier activated his distress beacon and got on his liferaft. Four of his competitors are now in the area, attempting to rescue him. They're far south, so the nights are short, but it's tense. vendeeglobe.org/en/news/20687/…
I'm excited because I learnt a new word today. But first an observation. 1/
Since the pandemic started, a few of us have noticed a disturbing phenomenon:
Experts access platforms to give their "expert" opinion on things that have little/nothing to do with their areas of expertise. 2/
We first noticed this in March. Here's a good example. The author of this piece is a worldwide authority on lifestyle as medicine (i.e., quality of diet, exercise, etc.). Here he is, weighing in on... health measures to fight Covid-19. 3/ nytimes.com/2020/03/20/opi…
