So I figured I should make this a thread. We’ve moved into a lovely bungalow by the sea, but it needs updating & a new kitchen / living area. We started off with these two random blocks on the back, that housed a sun room (UK weather?!) & an old school utility room 
These were smashed off and took a very long time, weather didn’t help us
We were left with these slabs still where the buildings sat but they had to be broken through for the new building footings. It turns out they were reinforced with some ofthe biggest concrete slabs I’ve ever seen & we needed 2 enormous concrete breakers on them for 3 days #noisy
As we broke the ground the storm didn’t help, it filled with water massively and we had to stick a water pump in to push the water out
As the ground is sand when the digger pulled the foundations any rain (hello recent storms!) made them fall in on themselves. So we had to shutter them all like a chocolate mould to hold in the concrete
We got the concrete in 😅
And as of today we have put in new drainage & started to build the internal wall
Its 80m2 area & where we’re at as I type. It’s gonna be awesome with lotsof natural light for filming. I’ve got lots of videos in the bag pre-filmed to come whilst I keep working on this. I’ll update this thread as we progress. Thanks 4 all the kind words it’ll be so worth it ✌️

This is a polytunnel in the garden that used to house a swimming pool. We don’t need it and we’re offered money but I’m giving it to a local mental health charity who do something called healing gardens, feels good to give it to a good cause not heard of this setup before
The previous owner filled it with rubble so I couldn’t convince @mrsbarryx to keep the swimming pool- they are expensive things to run! But we are using it to store materials / keep dry for now then will give it to the charity. I want a greenhouse but not one this size
We are starting to have a floor. These beams may look like a giant Kit Kat but sadly not & are very, very, very heavy
Floor is down now. Each concrete block is slotted into the beams & took a long time! The timber frame is going up today which will give you an idea of the final shape 🔨

Insulation is now in apart from the floor. The little blue rectangle in tape is where the kitchen Island will roughly be. Tube coming down is for extractor. Progress has slowed understandably or would have been done by now, but we are healthy & will film in existing kitchen ✌️
Walls and ceiling plaster boarded
The glass is on hold with the lockdown so temp covered up ceiling so we can proceed a bit. Next bit is to block up the far wall here on the left.
Today we removed some crittal doors and temp insulation in our temp living room which will become phoebes bedroom, new partition up for a wardrobe for her. Will be reusing the doors on an opening when we knock through next week.

Backfilling some foundations today & accidentally made a graveyard 😂
Boom! It took ages but we got them in.... we were quoted £6k for 2 lots of these original replacement crittal doors! They have steel frames & the other set will be inside for my office.
Dot and dabbed the back wall today, finally saying goodbye to the green wall that was in many early photos. Nearly there folks
The plasterboard is stuck on, a little bit of making good and then we can plaster it which will make it look very different indeedy ready for painting 🎨
Today we cemented the floor beams together, it was a lot like pouring cake batter into a never ending cupcake mould 😂

Busy few days putting down the damp membrane, floor insulation, grooved chipboard & we’ve started putting the pipe in for the under floor heating run 😬
Found my favourite tool that looks like a machine gun - a screw gun for plasterboard, really speeds stuff up! Helped us massively put up the wall for the kitchen today before we ran out of plasterboard 😂 kitchen arrives tomorrow 😬 but may start fitting it by end week ahead 😅
Decorating today, getting a mist coat on the walls & ceiling. Mrs B helped for the last push, but gotta do another couple of coats tomorrow before foraging for ingredients for this weekends videos 🤘
It’s starting to look like a room. There’s no glass in the windows yet but frames in today & starting to layout kitchen. Big week ahead.
What. A. Day. Roof lantern & windows / bi fold doors in, finally water tight after 10 weeks. The polytunnel in the garden is now removed & gone to the charity, need to tidy the garden soon (ish!) But kitchen fit continues tomorrow 😅
The kitchen is nearly there. Sink being plumbed in tomorrow so the white temporary pipe will be gone you see in the pic, plus our 2 old ovens will finally be back from storage in the garage. Today the old pool in the garden was demolished & began to be covered up 😅
We levelled the garden today just gonna grass it for now. Recognise the hob & ovens? Friends reunited 😂 let’s just not self clean eh

Ripped out the old kitchen last night partially. This will be my office & am using some of the existing kitchen to help film some shorter videos (hands only sort of thing) just working out what to keep yet but figured made sense to have an area to make more content
