But we will remember, we see you & your ableism.
So next time you deny us accommodations, we will say “but during Coronavirus?”
#Disabled folks what *reasonable* adjustments are you suddenly seeing that have been denied to you or would make a massive difference to you?
Working from home. I'm visually impaired & use a white cane, using inaccessible public transport everyday is exhausting physically & mentally.
Working from home means I can be productive, happy & safe.
I've frequently been refused this reasonable adjustment.
However, Professors consistently refused to record lectures, share slides & class notes to enable me to participate. #AcademicAbleism
So I rely A LOT on online shopping, but so often #Disabled people are shamed or called lazy for shopping online.
And no, someone going in & buying it for me is not a 'reasonable' adjustment.
I'm an adult, it's my money.
Every year another academic will write a shitty opinion piece boasting about how they've banned technology in their classroom.
You ban technology = banning disabled students.
And no, having to 'prove' our disability to you isn't a *reasonable* adjustment.
I'm blind, constantly having to move around a space & re: learn the layout & who is on the same table as me is EXHAUSTING.
So many times I've asked to change workshops on the basis of this, so many times it's been ignored.
