STIMULUS BILL: Per Dem analysis, the working version allows:
1) wide discretion for @stevenmnuchin1 in giving bailout $ to favored companies, possibly including TRUMP’s.
2) MNUCHIN can waive stock buyback restrictions.
3) companies can keep bailout $, even if they fire employees.

MNUCHIN’S CONTROL OVER BAILOUT $: This is worth watching generally, & particularly regarding TRUMP’s own company.

Yesterday, Trump said “I just don't know what the government assistance would be for what I have.”

* The hotel & travel industry has requested $250B in assistance.

Not only does the Senate GOP bill give @USTreasury Secretary @StevenMnuchin1 wide discretion in allocating assistance to businesses, it appears to allow him to withhold the names of businesses & governments that received the assistance for 6 months "if necessary & appropriate."

A draft of the Senate GOP's coronavirus stimulus bill appears to extend protections for federally funded abstinence-only education programs.

Which does not seem to have much relation to saving the economy, but is a longtime priority of social conservatives.

CORONAVIRUS $$$ FOR TRUMP ORG? @SenDuckworth calls the GOP proposal “a slush fund that @StevenMnuchin1 is going to be able to write checks to whoever he wants with no oversight, even to Trump organizations."

GOP STIMULUS BOOSTS FOR-PROFIT COLLEGES: The draft McCONNELL bill would allow colleges to keep federal loan $ allocated for students who drop out.

This provision could disproportionately benefit for-profit colleges, which have higher dropout rates, but are a GOP cause célèbre.
