1/ Aside from the cruelty of the right--suggesting it's OK to sacrifice elderly & those w/high-risk conditions to get "back to normal" & keep economy humming (rather than send checks to people & suspend mortgages which would also work)--their position is impractical as well...
2/ If we all "return to normal," even those who shrug at deaths for the above groups know there'd be a spike in infections, even for others. This means millions missing work anyway & tens of thousands having to seek hospital care, which overwhelms the system for everyone...
3/ ..meaning more than just above group members are at risk. People needing urgent care for other illnesses, accidents, chronic conditions, will be less likely to receive it...so deaths spiral, & all of this wrecks the economy these fools were trying to "save" anyway...
4/ There simply is no regular back to normal capitalistic way to get through this crisis. No way to let the market solve this problem. No way to succeed by prioritizing Wall Street profitability over people. Only bottom-up solutions that place people first can work...
5/ But the right is so afraid to let the government craft a solution--not bc it wouldn't work but because it would, thereby undermining their elitist philosophy --that they are wiling to sacrifice lives AND the economy just to prop up traditional economic hierarchies...
