Anita, Mia's art dealer is a character in the novel as well, but I love that in @LittleFiresHulu she's cast as a woman of color. #LittleFiresEverywhere #firequestions
Apparently there was dissent on Shaker-alum Facebook boards about whether or not sirens actually marked the beginning and end of trick-or-treating. (They did.) All I can say is: maybe you remember it more if you lived closer to the fire station? #LittleFiresEverywhere
"Are we... friends?" Love watching the see-saw of who's in control tip back and forth between Mia and Elena. #littlefireseverywhere
Ahhh! A little Mr. Yang cameo! I'm fond of Mr. Yang. #littlefireseverywhere #firequestions
Izzy's little bandana 😍😭 #littlefireseverywhere
Party scene music: oh whoa, I haven't heard this song since I was like 17. #littlefireseverywhere
Moody! You did not execute the plan! (To be fair, it was kind of a terrible plan.) #LittleFiresEverywhere
The moment when Linda apologizes to the baby for swearing in front of her 😂😭 #littlefireseverywhere
Those PIGTAILS! SHE IS A VERY GOOD BABY #littlefireseverywhere #firequestions
Nothing sexier than trigonometry 😏 #littlefireseverywhere
"VO5, isn't that, like, tomato juice?" Oh, Trip. #littlefireseverywhere
Of COURSE Trip is always "prepared" #littlefireseverywhere
And of course he tries to turn it around on Pearl 🤦🏻‍♀️ #littlefireseverywhere
Gotta say, this is the warmest Cleveland Halloween I've ever seen. 😂 We usually had to wear coats. It was a constant struggle. #littlefireseverywhere
"You're both terrible mothers." Ouch. That is a LOW blow. #littlefireseverywhere
This might be my favorite line of the series. "You didn't make good choices. You HAD good choices." #littlefireseverywhere #firequestions @atticalocke
The look on Mia's face when Pearl takes the Richardsons' side. Devastating. #littlefireseverywhere
And that moment where Mia comes to get Pearl. Girl. You are in SO MUCH TROUBLE. #littlefireseverywhere
Look closely at the art Izzy's helping Mia make. #littlefireseverywhere
Ed Lim! I loved, loved, loved writing an Asian man who gets to be intelligent but not a nerd, powerful but not a kung-fu hero. Love seeing him @Byron_Mann bring him to live onscreen as Ed Lan. #littlefireseverywhere

A story: my mom had tuberculosis as a child, in postwar Hong Kong. TB, fyi, is serious and deadly. Her sister also had it and has long-term health issues. My mom recovered, but TB stays dormant in your system for the rest of your life. (1/X)
In early 2020 my mom was prescribed a biological medicine for something unrelated. It suppressed her immune system and reactivated her TB. Fortunately, her doctors screens for this and caught it right away! Because… TB is also super, super infectious. (2/X)
Side note: think about every Victorian novel you’ve read/TV show you’ve seen. You know how there’s always someone coughing up blood and/or wasting away from consumption? THAT is tuberculosis. (3/X)

Guns make us SO FREE that people in Maine are still on lockdown while police hunt for a mass killer armed with an AR-15. We can’t keep living like this.
But yeah, sure, let’s focus on people in drag, LGBTQ+ kids, and books that mention sex of any kind, that’s the REAL danger
People talk about guns and 2A as important for people to protect themselves. At what point will we agree that part of government’s role is to protect residents, because it *shouldn’t* be every man for themselves?

Horrifying but unsurprising findings here, including: misogyny & racism are rampant and intertwined in the inc*l community, that most already are misogynistic before joining, & “in*els degrade all women but women of color are doubly denigrated by incels.” psypost.org/2023/06/analys…
If you’re wondering why I put an asterisk in the previous tweet, it’s because I’m one of the many, many women of color that live rent-free in these dudes’ minds. I still get random comments from them on unrelated tweets, out of the blue.
“Perhaps naively, we did not think that misogyny would be as common as it is. We suspected that misogyny might be the product of a vocal minority, whereas other users were not there to hate women but instead talk about the difficulties with being an inc*l. This was not the case.”

For an interview, I tried to look up the exact date of a particular attack on an elderly Asian American during the pandemic. There were so many similar attacks it took me multiple attempts to find the specific one I was referring to.
Even narrowing my search to
- Asian person stomped
- caught on camera
- midtown Manhattan
- daytime
led to *multiple* cases. Multiple.

That doesn't include the other cases where people were beaten, stabbed, punched, kicked, had acid thrown on them...
...Or the cases not in midtown but in Times Square, Yonkers, Brooklyn. Or the cases not in New York but in every other major city in the US. Or the cases where it wasn't caught on camera.

What I’m getting from these “just stop masking!” pieces is that deep down, some people feel so guilty about not masking that they’d like everyone to stop… so they can stop feeing guilty. 🤔
I think I’ve talked about this before, but in grad school there was this one guy on campus who always wore a bike helmet. All the time, inside and out. In class, walking around. It was a bit unusual, but okay, cool! If he likes wearing a helmet, why not?
It literally makes no difference to anyone else if someone wants to wear a bike helmet 24/7. It would be ridiculous for someone, say, to write a long piece in a national magazine about why this dude doesn’t need to wear a bike helmet… unless they were somehow feeling bad?

So @Harvard just sent out an email that says "COVID is not going away"... and then cancelling all COVID tracing and mitigation measures university wide. Brilliant.
"Students and employees will no longer need to report a positive COVID-19 case to HUHS. Anyone who tests positive will manage their isolation independently by referring to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance."
"COVID-19 has not gone away. ... Meanwhile, individual action remains critical for personal protection." INDIVIDUAL ACTION REMAINS CRITICAL LARGELY BECAUSE NO ONE IS MAKING ANY COLLECTIVE ACTIONS ON A SOCIETAL LEVEL
