MA has the world’s best health care providers & public health leaders doing everything they can to stem the COVID-19 pandemic. But the President & his admin have failed them at every turn. Read the letter @SenMarkey & I sent President Trump yesterday. warren.senate.gov/newsroom/press…
Massachusetts frontline providers have spoken out for weeks about the shortages of protective gear, test kits, ventilators & masks. And soon they may not have enough hospital capacity. One person is ultimately to blame for all these shortfalls: President Trump.
Until we substantially increase our medical capacities, we cannot send people back to work, and our economy will continue to suffer. Exposing more people to the virus, and causing them to be hospitalized or die from COVID-19, is both a moral & economic failure.
This administration failed to treat this crisis with urgency from the onset. Failed to deploy the Strategic National Stockpile for supplies & the @USACEHQ to build facilities. Failed to use the DPA to mobilize America's industrial might.

President Trump, you must do better.

It was already nearly impossible to find quality, affordable child care before this crisis – and providers struggled to stay afloat. Now COVID-19 is pushing this broken system to the brink of collapse. Without emergency funding, many providers will close their doors forever.
My plan with @SenTinaSmith to save the child care sector would:
✅ Provide free child care for essential workers
✅ Keep providers in business & workers on payroll
✅ Make long-term, structural investments to rebuild the system

People of color are more likely to live in neighborhoods with polluted air & dirty water. They’re less likely to have insurance or have their health problems taken seriously. And they’re more likely to work low-wage frontline jobs that put their lives at risk during this crisis.
The COVID-19 demographic data trickling out from places like MI & IL are exposing the deep inequalities in our communities. This virus is making those disparities worse. We must confront this problem head-on, but we need all the data to do it. theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/…

Frontline workers – health care, transit, farm, grocery, domestic & delivery workers – are risking their lives to keep America running. We can’t rely on big business to protect them. So @RepRoKhanna & I are proposing an Essential Workers Bill of Rights to #ProtectEssentialWorkers
#1: Employers must be required to provide personal protective equipment at no cost to workers, including contractors & subcontractors. And they must have protocols for informing employees & evacuating & cleaning the site if there is COVID-19 exposure. #ProtectEssentialWorkers
#2: Every worker should be paid a livable wage, & essential employees are no exception. On top of that, they should be paid robust premium pay retroactive to the start date of the pandemic. And premium pay should be higher for the lowest-wage workers. #ProtectEssentialWorkers
