@MayorJohnBiggs @TowerHamletsNow - the message about your closure of @VickyParkLondon is now this. It’d be good to have transparency about what measures you have in mind, the timescale, and whether there is anything local residents could do to help (eg volunteer as marshals).
The closure of @VickyParkLondon is such a loss for people round here especially those with no garden and children who need to get out and run around safely at least once a day. It would be good to have some sense of what is being done to resolve this problem.

An interesting question. If the PM is temporarily incapacitated, is there any way a Minister could be appointed or dismissed?
Technically, these powers are held by the Crown. But, by strong convention, they are exercised only on the PM’s advice. So the obvious answer to the question is “no”.
What, though, if a Secretary of State or Minister dies, resigns, or becomes obviously unable to function, while the PM is incapacitated?

This by @meadwaj is well worth a read, and raises a host of interesting questions. It gets at a deep concern I had about Corbynism: its apparent lack of interest in rights and reform of our democracy, all while proposing a huge increase in state power. thesocialreview.co.uk/2020/04/05/lab…
And he is right, I believe, that new thinking about rights against the state (and big corporations) and about democratic reform is a key part of the work to be done by Labour, in a world where the state’s role is bound to increase.
You can’t just assume that the state will use its power and ownership in the interests of all - for the many, not the few, as you might say - unless you have effective systems of legal rights and democratic accountability.

I’m afraid, unlike @davidallengreen, I don’t find @RobertCraig3’s analysis persuasive. Here’s why.
The key section here is section 45C of the Public Health (Control of Disease) Act 1984. (In fact all the relevant legislation here comes from 2008 amendments).
Key points. The broad power (in (1)) is wide. (2)(b) tells us the power can be general in nature. (3)(c) tells it can impose restrictions in relation to persons. And (4)(d) tells us that such restrictions can include “special restrictions”.
