I want to take a moment to take a breath and A)thank everyone who signed up for free emails and especially the paid subscribers. B)Thank everyone who promoted my substack, especially of course @TheStalwart's constant and overwhelming support. C) look back at the past... week? Wow
I've written 8 posts since March 19th which I think is a lot! and apparently y'all do to given how many people have already jumped on board with paid subscriptions. First up is my round up of what had been going on up until that point.

I think my rough guesstimate that households need about 3.5 trillion in support still seems on track and the recently passed legislation falls far short of that standard. I hope to be writing about the legislation in more detail next week.
In the next post (which got over 10 thousand unique views!!) I contested the idea that we were inevitably going to have a recession and thus its less significant than it appears that the "recession" is pandemic related.

In the next post, which got me on Bloomberg's What'd You Miss with @TheStalwart (!!),I talked about Medicare for All as an automatic fiscal stabilizer and the way it eliminates procyclical parts of the federal budget and state and local government budgets

The next day I wrote an FAQ for the platinum coin because of @RashidaTlaib's legislation co written with my colleague @rohangrey which led to an interview with fortune magazine.

Tuesday I wrote about whether the Federal Reserve could just create its own spending program and speculated on the possibility that that may happen, norms be damned, if congress fails to act.

Going to go a little out of order and talk next about my post on the 454 billion dollar accounting gimmick in the "stimulus" bill which makes it far less than it appears. This piece has already been featured in the American Prospect and Bloomberg!

nathantankus.substack.com/p/a-quarter-of…
Finally, what has probably been the biggest success to date, there is the first two parts of my ongoing series on what the Federal Reserve's actions have been in this crisis.

These two 3000+ word behemoths are very detailed and granular but during a crisis that's sometimes exactly what you need! I will be writing more big picture stuff about this round of Federal Reserve interventions in the future.

Thank you so much for reading and providing support, whether that support is financial or otherwise. If you haven't, consider taking out a paid subscription on substack! Email me if you want to do that in some other way nathantankus at gmail dot com. Thank you!!
