EU source says the first meeting (via teleconference) of the EU-UK Joint Committee to implement the Withdrawal Agreement was "constructive". Maros Sefcovic, European Commission vice president represented the EU side, Michael Gove, Cabinet Office minister represented the UK
Source says both sides "recalled the importance of the proper implementation" of the WA, and the "on the importance for the UK to set out plans over the coming months" on how it will implement the NI Protocol
The work of the six specialised sub-committees (including the sub-committee on NI) has now been launched with, I'm told, "an emphasis on the NI committee"
So, it sounds like a predictable first feeler meeting, with the EU side gently reminding the UK of its obligations under the WA. Will update...
