DeSantis took heavy criticism from state lawmakers for waiting to order the restrictions, even as the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in his state nearly doubled in the past four days bringing the statewide total to 6,741 as of Tuesday evening.

Florida was the only US state with over 5,000 coronavirus cases that hadn't issued a stay-at-home order. About a quarter of Florida's population is >65 -- and DeSantis put them and everyone else in the state in harm's way by waiting so long.
