Why isn't Trump using the full powers of the Defense Production Act to maximize the production of tests, masks, and other needed supplies?
I explore one reason here: The powerful U.S. Chamber of Commerce is lobbying Trump not to use it.

Remember when, during the campaign, Trump said he could shoot someone in the middle of Fifth Avenue and his supporters wouldn’t care?

We are watching that play out right now

Trump is publicly encouraging people to protest in large groups at the apex of a pandemic
Trumps encouragement will make the protests larger and more frequent. It’s inevitable that, at many of these events, the coronavirus will spread.

Maybe it will kill someone attending the protests. Maybe the protesters will spread it to someone else who will die.
But, as it turns out, Trump was right.

His negligent response to the pandemic has resulted in thousands of preventable deaths.

Fomenting protests against social distancing will likely result in more fatalities.

And yes, at least 40% of the country is with him regardless
