I see this happen so much, just because people will have a tiny bit of info, and most likely not nuanced, they will speak about different indentured communities and experiences of those descendants in a very comfortable way.
I'm fortunate to have connected with and built friendships with descendants from different indentured communities. I appreciate when they share/teach me things or when I'm invited to participate in something from their community.
And just because of that, doesn't mean I'm an expert on their context or experiences as descendants. What I will say is even among descendants from any particular context/background,
to acknowledge how power dynamics of racial/ethnic/class/citizenship/caste/gender/sexuality/religious backgrounds are real, and dictate how you see/share your experiences as descendants.
If you can't acknowledge your privileges (and only talk about how your oppressed in one way), be prepared to be called out. Because proximity to whiteness and brahminical supremacy allows who gets to represent a community.
To those who are not descendants, just stop trying to spotlight ur knowledge about indentured labour cuz i know you think it's cool now, and will give you extra sj points. Leave it to people from those direct communities and give them space in your organizing.
