Goodna footbridge - an amazing structure to replace a QGR standard footbridge UP from Goodna. Used to access Goodna State school particularly from river side of Goodna.
Here is the old footbridge, May 2011. Image
Upgrading the Ipswich Motorway meant the footbridge had to be replaced. In the background can be seen the footbridge to access Goodna railway station from St Ives side under construction. Image

The old footbridge was removed and construction started on the new bridge. A shuttle bus was provided for the locals as needed. Image
This was going to be quite a structure! Image
Work proceeded in concert with the motorway upgrade. The Goodna State School is behind the wall on the right. Image
The double mainline Ipswich line. Carries a lot of tonnage due to coal traffic, as well as the Citytrain services and some other freight and the Westlander. Image

See the beams? Some of the largest ever poured. Image
Bogdan Gregory, Australian Precast Solutions Precast Manager, said, “These two bridge beams are the longest we’ve produced at our Macksville precast facility and I’m not aware of any longer ones being produced elsewhere." Image

Interesting fact. The railway line to Beaudesert was first surveyed from Goodna to Beaudesert. Locals thought the option to Logan Village and Bethania was better.
