People strive to label you, to put you in a bucket.

They do this for THEIR benefit, not yours.

They attempt to do this from their very first impression of you - how you look, how you dress, what you do etc.

For example, when two strangers meet at a party.

The first question invariably is in regards to your profession.

A familiar profile and they know what to talk to you. On any topic.

An unfamiliar profile and they would be lost to what to say to you. Not just about your job, but on any topic at all.

What follows is the next question and another attempt at labelling you.

The first label they have to at least work to attach to you; the rest follow automatically.

Here's an example of how this works.

If you voted for so and so person in the last election, then you are automatically bestowed with so and so traits.

And no, you get no say in these characteristics being bestowed on you.

Now you are in bucket; now you have no individuality.
You are part of a group.

The scary part is that soon you will find yourself, spending a lifetime, striving hard to live up to and defending these labels.

Labels that you didn't even ask for in the first place.
Labels that THEY attached to you for THEIR convenience.

Don’t let them label you!
