All of the large outbreaks in Europe seem to be finally responding to 2-3 weeks of serious containment.
🇮🇹 Italy and 🇪🇸 Spain are clearly past their peak and actually starting to see steady reductions in the number of daily deaths.
🇫🇷 France will probably get there in the next couple of days.
🇬🇧 England might peak this weekend but its acceleration has been a bit jumpy so it might take a couple more days.
🇧🇪Belgium is the next large outbreak that is accelerating more than we'd like to see, but it's not out of control.
🇩🇪Germany 🇳🇱Netherlands 🇸🇪Sweden 🇨🇭Switzerland have all slowed down quickly and are steady at levels lower than Italy.
🇺🇸 In the USA, New York State is breaking records, but is showing will hopefully peak around the weekend. It's been just over three weeks of no schools, and two of only essential jobs, and the effect is clear.
🇺🇸 In the rest of the USA, Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania & Louisiana will probably take over the news next week.
Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland and Ohio follow a week behind.
The rest of the states will come later.
In Latin America, 🇧🇷 Brazil is still going up, with 🇲🇽 Mexico catching up.
🇩🇴 The Dominican Republic has not grown as fast as it seemed at the beginning.
🇨🇴 Colombia 🇪🇨 Ecuador and 🇵🇪 Peru have all seen days with 10 deaths or more and will probably keep growing for at least two more weeks.
The conclusion, in case it's not clear, is that staying at home is working. But we've only reached the first half of the curve. We need to keep the isolation efforts in order to reduce the pandemic to manageable levels.
