Preliminary data from a new study in Heinsberg, in the area of Germany worst affected by COVID-19, finds that 14% of people surveyed had evidence of past infection (n~500), and 2% of current infection.
Specifically, 14% were IgG positive for SARS-CoV-2, and 2% positive by PCR from throat swab.
Important to emphasise that this was a location with a particularly large COVID-19 outbreak – the proportion so far infected overall in Germany is likely to be much lower than 14%.
