The Omer begins tonight—this time of wandering and waiting, marking the time until we arrive at the foot of a mountain, at a moment of revelation. This year, we count these days with a different sort of anxiety, hour by hour, unsure of where we are going or when we will arrive. 1
But the Omer begins in chesed—chesed in chesed. Kindness upon kindness, grounded in kindness. And this is the clue, the guide to the entire journey. 2/
