Curious as to how Trump touting chloroquines and resulting media coverage may incentivize certain research.

Per U.S. clinical trial database:

* 68 studies for hydroxychloroquine & Covid-19
* 10 studies for remdesivir & Covid-19
* 13 studies for convalescent plasma & Covid-19
Context:

The U.S. clinical trial database is the world's largest, run by the NIH and listing studies globally. These are not only U.S. studies.

68 is the number of hits for those search terms.

61 is the number specifically marked as hydroxychloroquine studies.
Most of the resulting studies are marked "new."

What factors might prompt more research into Covid-19 treatments in a certain direction?

Have you performed clinical research and have insights into this issue?

Let me know in the comments or DMs.
Just to put a fine point on this:

I am not assuming any one cause for this trend, and you should not either.

Simply flagging a data point for more research and reaching out to experts as to why this trend might be happening.
