remember when chung-sook called ki-taek a cockroach? you see the entire family scurrying just like that — hunched over, crawling on all fours. they become just like geun-sae. poverty and desperation levels them.

it's poignant that the poor families spend the film destroying each other for scraps at the table. ultimately, you can read ki-taek's murder of dong-ik as a moment of clarity about who the real enemy is. song kang ho conveys everything without a word.

while most of parasite was shot during the summer, bong saved this final scene with choi woo-sik for the winter because he wanted the drama of the snowfall

the fantasy, the promise, the cruel optimism of capitalism is fully embodied in ki-woo's dream of buying the house himself:
